Lancaster, PA Family and Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Steven Crognale, Dr. Patricia Collins and Dr. Melissa Crognale

Crognale, Collins & Crognale Dentistry got its start on April 1st, 1981. Steven Crognale and Patricia Collins Crognale started seeing patients that first day and have served the Lancaster community ever since. Their daughter Melissa was born in September of that year and grew up in the practice. Many of our long time patients remember her as a child playing in the waiting room. She decided to follow in her parents path and joined our practice in 2008.

All three of our doctors serve the community by volunteering time and services to those in need. Additionally, Dr Crognale is a member of the American Dental Association, and Dr Collins is a member of the American Association of Women Dentists.

“We love it there, and that's hard to say when one goes to the dentist, so happy my kids are comfortable there also, so updated and nice receiptionist, so welcoming as soon as you enter, I highly recommend!!!!” - Madeline M.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns, sometimes referred to as 'caps', are dental restorations made from either porcelain, metal, or porcelain fused to metal or gold to help protect damaged teeth.  Because of their improved strength and natural appearances, our doctors will mainly use porcelian crowns to help repair your damaged teeth.

The crown is fused over top of your existing tooth which is filed down for a secure and natural-feeling fit. In order to make the best crown for your tooth, our team will take necessary x-rays to review the tooth and it's root, reshape the underlying tooth, and also take an impression of the surrounding teeth to make sure your bite and smile are as natural and comfortable as possible after inserting the crown.

Bridges are used to help replace missing teeth.   By placing crowns on the two adjoining teeth and attaching a false, natural-looking tooth between them where your tooth is missing, bridges can help give you back the smile you want.

If you have any questions regarding tooth restoration, crowns, bridges or implants, please call us today.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are many things that can help.  First, we'd want to determine that you are, indeed, grinding your teeth.  If this is the case, one of our dentists will likely create a night guard for you to wear when you sleep to reduce the wear and tear on your teeth.  Tooth grinding can cause all sorts of complications, so this can help. Depending on the wear that your grinding has done to your teeth, we may be able to use crowns to help protect the remaining and surrounding teeth, as well.

Yes!  In most cases, implants are stronger than bridges.  Also, because implants can directly replace your missing or damaged tooth, there is no need to disrupt adjacent teeth as is the case with a bridge.  Implants are now considered the standard practice for missing or damaged teeth because of their strength and ability to last longer, protect the bone and avoid damaging the neighboring teeth.
